‘He May Not Come When You Want Him But He Is Always Right On Time ‘
by Pastor Tim Dilena
Highlights :
- verse – 6 – “When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.” = ‘He May Not Come When You Want Him But He Is Always Right On Time ‘—4 days late for this funeral but He was still right on time !
- Waiting is the hardest work of the believer.
- God is saying in the scriptures over and over again, to wait upon Him!
- God gave a promise to Abraham, he had to wait 24 years to its fulfillment
- It always seems that God is not in a hurry but I am!
- Biblical waiting is proactive not lazy! ( —)
- Too often we want God’ s provision/Hand/resources but not His calendar/Timing.
- The trapeze faith – see link
- Back to verse -6- The ‘in between time’- It’s not a doubt about the power of Jesus, but their problem was the timing of Jesus. They knew He could heal, raise the dead but when?
- We think that when we are doing what is right -things should go right-‘if I live for God I should have no problems- right?” But sometimes the opposite goes on! The more surrendered you are the more hellish the battles are !
- There are times when my obedience and my trials don’t seem to match !
- Lord , I don’t understand ,I am doing what’s right , but I am being attacked : Precisely!
- I am obeying You, and I am being attacked!: Exactly!
- I am blameless and I am being attacked! : YES!
- I fear God and the enemy comes against me like a flood ! : YES!
- IT’s Called” JOB!
- Devotion and Holiness is Not your free pass from difficulties!
- “Why do the righteous suffer?” someone asked C.S. Lewis. He replied: “They are the only ones that can handle it.”
- –verse 3_Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick.
- Intercession is ‘telling’ God , but Intercession is not ‘telling God what to do ‘! in verse 3- they could have added and get here quick ! they didn’t dictate /tell Jesus what to do !
- –verse 4- When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
- Jesus heard, but He didn’t move, He spoke! Jesus didn’t go to Bethany but He sent His Word !
- There are times when you gonna have to trust the Word of God before you see the Hand of God !
- -verse 5 & 6-Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
- This is the most frustrating place -it doesn’t seem to go together! He loves us and He waits longer!
- Jesus loves and yet Jesus delays!
- One would want it to say -that ‘as soon as Jesus heard the news he ran to Bethany ‘ ‘but No!!!
- Love doesn’t do what we want it to do, but Love always does what’s best!
- Jesus doesn’t always do what we want but always does what is best for us
- The delays of God is to make sure that He gets Glory in the situation!
- God could answer in a second , But ,Getting the /your answer is not the only issue here, but God getting Glory is key issue here !
- Sometimes Glory will make Love wait even if you misunderstand-God will even allow you to misunderstand Him- to get angry with Him!
- For Glory to come ,sometimes Things need to really get dark- The meaning of glory is brightness and sometimes they are certain things you cannot see unless the lights are turned out –
- The darker the situation the more His Glory is seen!
- BY Now, the body STINKS!
- JESUS WAS 4 DAYS ‘LATE’ !!!!
- Here’s the deal -Sometimes Jesus waits til your situation really stinks!
- When it stinks, God will get complete Glory! That’s when you come to end of yourself!
- What was seen as 4 days late for the funeral was really right on time!
