Not when you Want, but Always Right On Time!

‘He May Not Come When You Want Him But He Is Always Right On Time ‘

by Pastor Tim Dilena

Highlights :

  • verse – 6 – “When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.” = ‘He May Not Come When You Want Him But He Is Always Right On Time ‘—4 days late for this funeral but He was still right on time !
  • Waiting is the hardest work of the believer.
  • God is saying in the scriptures over and over again, to wait upon Him!
  • God gave a promise to Abraham, he had to wait 24 years to its fulfillment
  • It always seems that God is not in a hurry but I am!
  • Biblical waiting is proactive not lazy! ( —)
  • Too often we want God’ s provision/Hand/resources but not His calendar/Timing.
  • The trapeze faith – see link
  • Back to verse -6- The ‘in between time’- It’s not a doubt about the power of Jesus, but their problem was the timing of Jesus. They knew He could heal, raise the dead but when?
  1. We think that when we are doing what is right -things should go right-‘if I live for God I should have no problems- right?” But sometimes the opposite goes on! The more surrendered you are the more hellish the battles are !
  2. There are times when my obedience and my trials don’t seem to match !
  1. Lord , I don’t understand ,I am doing what’s right , but I am being attacked : Precisely!
  2. I am obeying You, and I am being attacked!: Exactly!
  3. I am blameless and I am being attacked! : YES!
  4. I fear God and the enemy comes against me like a flood ! : YES!
  5. IT’s Called” JOB!
  1. Devotion and Holiness is Not your free pass from difficulties!
  2. Why do the righteous suffer?” someone asked C.S. Lewis. He replied: “They are the only ones that can handle it.”
  • verse 3_Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick.
  1. Intercession is ‘telling’ God , but Intercession is not ‘telling God what to do ‘! in verse 3- they could have added and get here quick ! they didn’t dictate /tell Jesus what to do !
  • verse 4- When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
  1. Jesus heard, but He didn’t move, He spoke! Jesus didn’t go to Bethany but He sent His Word !
  2. There are times when you gonna have to trust the Word of God before you see the Hand of God !
  • -verse 5 & 6-Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
  1. This is the most frustrating place -it doesn’t seem to go together! He loves us and He waits longer!
  2. Jesus loves and yet Jesus delays!
  3. One would want it to say -that ‘as soon as Jesus heard the news he ran to Bethany ‘ ‘but No!!!
  4. Love doesn’t do what we want it to do, but Love always does what’s best!
  5. Jesus doesn’t always do what we want but always does what is best for us
  1. The delays of God is to make sure that He gets Glory in the situation!
  2. God could answer in a second , But ,Getting the /your answer is not the only issue here, but God getting Glory is key issue here !
  3. Sometimes Glory will make Love wait even if you misunderstand-God will even allow you to misunderstand Him- to get angry with Him!
  4. For Glory to come ,sometimes Things need to really get dark- The meaning of glory is brightness and sometimes they are certain things you cannot see unless the lights are turned out –
  5. The darker the situation the more His Glory is seen!
  • BY Now, the body STINKS!
  • JESUS WAS 4 DAYS ‘LATE’ !!!!
  • Here’s the deal -Sometimes Jesus waits til your situation really stinks!
  • When it stinks, God will get complete Glory! That’s when you come to end of yourself!
  • What was seen as 4 days late for the funeral was really right on time!
