Adam and Eve wanted to know something  God didn’t want them to know.
The tree of Knowledge was Something forbidden but freedom to take it.

I have found this good comment: The story of Adam and Eve is an allegory of the transition from childhood to adulthood, the moment at which the child becomes an independent moral agent in the universe. At that moment the child attains moral responsibility, represented by the Knowledge of Good and Evil – the knowledge and the freedom to make decisions and accept their consequences. Eating the fruit is the act of defiance by which the child demonstrates that she now stands on an equal plane with the parent. But the parent longs to protect and care for the child even at the cost of the child’s freedom and independent moral judgement. Thus the parent resists the transition to adulthood, represented by the prohibition on eating the fruit. The expulsion represents the pain of leaving the comfort and security of the childhood home and the necessity to earn a living “by the sweat of your brow.”

    • Very Interesting but not very accurate- It sounds a bit new age-not much christian- its very far fetched – but maybe could work at certain level ( not so sure )! find it a bit lightweight-as disobeying was much more than that-I wonder who said that? Could you post the link as well?
