Genesis 4:11-12

Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”

  • Cain is under a curse, I wonder if there is a difference from ‘being cursed’ to ‘being under a curse’. ‘Being under a curse’ seems to be more ‘indirect’ than the if, itis not God himself ‘retributing’ but ,lets say, ‘the law of life ‘ – you kill you pay- you hurt the ground, so no crops. ( Just thinking outloud).
  • Cain ‘calling/gift/profession was a farmer. God had already cursed the ground after Adam and Eve, making it hard for All humans to make a living,( Life wont be easy/smooth-Resistance will be met in our daily living-Life of Toil/Striving). But This time , the ground is cursed specifically  concerning Cain , as he is a farmer , basically, he has been made redundant, he is being sent to a life which the exact opposite of what he had before – an outdoors jail-his struggle has been increased ! he is now stripped of every material comfort that he  is used to , the comfort of a home, seasons yielding/reaping has been replaced by a life of an homeless-wanderer- vagabond ,perpetual exile, life of restlessness ;unknown Territory;daily stress of what tomorrow holds,No Structure-uncertainty, perpetual wandering, no security, no rest, probably mental harassment ,oppression- the peace/protection of God ,no more ?? He is being sent to the other Kingdom, without protection The enemy (devil) and his agents ( demons, humans) could do what they wanted of him. Unless God shows up , he is screwed! Read thoroughly  it is quite a tough sentence, really .
  •  Wondering , why didn’t God just kill Him ?
